"The Elizabethans"
This exquisite and very carefully researched stand shows the plants of the reigns of the two Queen Elizabeths. The section in the style of Elizabeth I is laid out with clipped santolina and teucrium hedges surrounding individual specimens of plants of the time, given their own individual spaces as was customary, including the delightful double white Fair Maids of France (Ranunculus aconitifolius ‘Flore Pleno’). The contemporary section is a plantsmans’s garden with an extraordinarily wide range of plants mingling together including the yellow variegated comfrey (Symphytum ‘Axminster Gold’) and ‘Glossy’, one of the latest tiarellas from the USA.
