Well, you might expect the Alpine Garden Society to build us a mountain and thats exactly what theyve done. This impressive piece of the Austrian Tirol features 60 tons of rusty-rose limestone including a single slab 13ft tall and weighing eight tons. Planted with alpine plants from all over the world, the exhibit has been built and planted by members of the Alpine Garden Society under the guidance of Michael Upward, winner of nine previous Gold medals for AGS exhibits. The sheets of silver-leaved celmisias, pink rhodohypoxis, blue phlox and mauve meconopsis give a taste of the rich variety of alpine plants.
