One of the most remarkable exhibitors at recent Chelsea Flower Shows has been Her Majestys Prison at Leyhill in Gloucestershire. This year, their clearly symbolic garden, demonstrates the power of the natural world to heal landscapes damaged by mans more destructive forces. Nature has moved in on an abandoned industrial landscape and healed it with wild flowers. The garden is planted in impressive detail - from the seedling elder in the roof of mine workings, the grass in the gutters, the elder stump re-sprouting foliage to the primroses and cowslips in the grass.
